The Space Between Eclipses: A Time for Clarity, Release & Soul Growth

The space between eclipses isn’t asking you to have all the answers. It’s inviting you to become quiet enough to hear what your soul has been trying to tell you all along.

August has felt intense. Perhaps you've felt it too.

There are periods in life when everything seems to become a little louder internally. Questions we've been avoiding become harder to ignore. Things that once felt comfortable suddenly don't. Our energy changes. Our priorities shift. And sometimes, before we understand exactly where we're going, we become incredibly aware of what we can no longer continue carrying.

We are currently sitting in one of those interesting astrological thresholds: the space between two eclipses.

On August 12, we experienced a Total Solar Eclipse. On August 27–28, we move into a Partial Lunar Eclipse, with the Full Moon in Pisces.

And while eclipse dates themselves receive most of the attention, I've always found the space between eclipses particularly fascinating.

It is a liminal space.

We have crossed one threshold, but we haven't quite reached the other…and sometimes that can feel uncomfortable.

The Space Between

In astrology, eclipses occur along the lunar nodal axis - the North Node and South Node.

From an Evolutionary Astrology perspective, this axis carries a beautiful symbolism. The South Node speaks to what is deeply familiar: patterns, conditioning, abilities and experiences we already know well. Depending on the astrological tradition, these themes may also be interpreted through karma or previous incarnations.

The North Node points us toward development. It represents qualities and experiences we're being invited to cultivate…the direction of growth that may initially feel unfamiliar but can gradually lead us toward a deeper sense of purpose and alignment.

This is why eclipse seasons are so interesting to me.

They can illuminate the tension between what we know and what we're becoming.

And that doesn't mean that something enormous has to happen externally this week.

Eclipse stories often unfold over time.

Sometimes the first shift isn't an event at all.

It's a realization.

A conversation.

A feeling you can no longer ignore.

A desire that keeps returning.

An exhaustion with something you've been tolerating.

Or simply the quiet recognition:

I don't want to live this way anymore.

When Clarity Feels Uncomfortable

We talk about clarity as though it should always feel wonderful. Sometimes it doesn't.

Sometimes clarity is deeply inconvenient.

Because once we see something clearly, we have to decide what we're going to do with what we know.

Maybe you realize a relationship needs to change.

Maybe the career you've built no longer reflects who you've become.

Maybe your body is asking you to slow down.

Maybe you've been working toward something because your ego believes you should want it, while your heart has quietly been asking for something completely different.

And perhaps this eclipse window isn't asking us to immediately fix any of it.

Maybe it's simply asking us not to look away.

The eclipse doesn’t ask you to become someone new. It simply illuminates what your soul is ready to release and who you’re ready to become.

What Is Your Heart Actually Asking For?

This has been one of my biggest personal reflections lately.

I've been thinking deeply about the difference between creating a life from the ego and creating one from the heart.

The ego isn't necessarily bad. We need it. It helps us function in the world, create identity, make decisions and protect ourselves.

But sometimes our ego becomes very invested in what life is supposed to look like…especially “safety” and “stability.”

Success should look like this.

My career should look like this.

By this age I should have accomplished this.

I should be productive.

I should keep going.

I should be able to handle everything.

And eventually the heart interrupts.

But is this actually what you want?

That question has been following me.

My own North Node is in Leo, and the more I study Evolutionary and Humanistic Astrology, the more meaningful that symbolism becomes to me.

At its highest expression, Leo isn't simply about attention or being seen.

Leo is heart-led creation. It asks us to create because something feels alive within us. To express ourselves authentically. To have the courage to be visible.

To allow joy, creativity, love and meaning to become part of the way we choose our lives.

And I'm realizing that part of my own journey right now is learning to distinguish between what I believe I should create and what genuinely feels meaningful to create.

There is a BIG difference.

Sometimes Growth Looks Like Doing Less

I've also had to acknowledge something else recently: I've been overextending myself.

And when we're constantly producing, working, solving, planning and thinking about what comes next, it becomes very difficult to hear ourselves.

So I've been intentionally creating little spaces where nothing needs to be accomplished.

I've started painting with watercolors.

I've been journaling more.

I've been studying.

I've been allowing myself to sit quietly.

And I've been paying attention to what emerges when I'm not constantly asking myself to produce something.

Interestingly, creativity often returns when we stop demanding it. Clarity does too.

Perhaps that's another lesson within this eclipse window.

Not every transformation requires action.

Sometimes transformation begins with enough stillness to finally hear what we've been trying to tell ourselves.

Don't Resist the Clarity

If things feel uncertain right now, I don't think the invitation is necessarily to figure everything out.

Instead, observe.

Notice what keeps coming up.

Notice what feels heavy.

Notice what suddenly feels complete.

Notice where you're trying to force something.

Notice what brings relief when you imagine releasing it.

Notice what makes your heart come alive when you imagine moving toward it.

And most importantly, try not to judge what you discover.

The person you were five years ago was allowed to want something that the person you are today no longer wants.

Changing doesn't mean you made the wrong decision then.

It means you're alive.

You're evolving.

Eclipse Seasons Are Chapters, Not Deadlines

I think this is particularly important.

Astrology can sometimes create unnecessary urgency around eclipses…as though we have a tiny cosmic window in which we must transform our entire lives.

I don't believe we need to approach them that way.

The themes activated around an eclipse can belong to a much larger developmental story. We may recognize echoes of them across many months as circumstances, relationships and our own consciousness continue evolving.

You don't need to know exactly what you're doing by August 28.

You don't need to quit the job.

End the relationship.

Move countries.

Launch the business.

Become enlightened by a specific date.

You can simply notice what is becoming clearer.

Clarity is already movement.

A Few Questions for This Eclipse Window

Find a quiet moment this week and sit with these…not necessarily looking for immediate answers, but simply noticing what arises.

  • What am I beginning to understand that I wasn't ready to see six months ago?

  • Where am I continuing something because it feels familiar rather than because it feels aligned?

  • What am I exhausted from carrying?

  • Where am I operating from expectation, fear or ego rather than from my heart?

  • What keeps calling me, even when I try to ignore it?

  • What would I allow myself to release if I knew I didn't have to immediately replace it with something else?

And perhaps most importantly: What is life trying to show me right now?

You don't have to force the answer. Let it unfold.

We are all becoming.

And sometimes the most powerful thing we can do during a transition is stop fighting the person we're becoming long enough to finally meet them.

With love & light,
Lorena
